Alyssa (AJ) is an independent photographer based in West Michigan. She grew up in a small town near Akron, Ohio and graduated from Kent State University.

While working as a staff photojournalist at the Battle Creek Enquirer / USA Today Network, Alyssa covered stories centered around access to childcare, food insecurity, and LGBTQ+ visibility as a means to inform her community and connect readers to their neighbors.

In 2021, a pandemic-fueled passion for movies called her to pursue work as a unit still photographer.

Placing an emphasis on human connection is how Alyssa approaches photography for news outlets and on film sets. She is intrigued by the imperfect beauty found in everyday life.
